Who we are

Joy Oquendo Foundation focuses on empowering low-to-moderate income minority youth by providing them with tools to be successful. Our initiatives are in efforts to close the racial wealth gap. It is statistically proven that extracurricular activities help kids stay out of trouble. Research also shows the racial disparities in youth commitments and arrests. While it's known that keeping youth involved can lead to positive outcomes, the fact that extracurricular activities cost and these youth come from households of scarce resources makes it challenging. Joy Oquendo Foundation focuses on breaching that gap, by providing microloans and scholarships. Through the various programs, the foundation will be sharing Joy one child at a time. These efforts will lead to youth positive engagement resulting in positive adults with options and advantages.
